Fallon--Reading Louis L'Amour in 2016
Starting to read Dad's books again was interesting. As I have said before other places, I have not read everything. Heck of a confession but there it is. (check mystoryrightnow.blogspot.com for that.) For a while after his death things were too fresh and Education was like sitting at the table with him. So here I am now having read things here and there over the years, but still not everything. I am a busy mom who is also writing, working for Beau on LL things and making jewelry as a side note to everything else.
I took Fallon off the shelf. There is no rhyme or reason to my choice simply that Beau had always liked it and I hadn't read it yet. I always have a soft spot for the anti hero --a guy who starts out all for himself and despite his best desires ends up completely different. I appreciate this aspect of the book. I also like that the main female character is strong and bright and recognizes when things are a bit off --she reads Fallon like a book but isn't sure what the ending is at first.
A L'Amour, but not a typical western with gunfights and cattle though there are both, this one is about building a town and a society and about ego and how it gets you into trouble.
Moving on, Have to pick the next one right now to read tomorrow while I am waiting on another college audition for my oldest.
Happy Reading!
